{"id":77,"date":"2026-07-20T14:08:20","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T13:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pomsmentorship.org\/?page_id=77"},"modified":"2026-07-29T22:07:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T21:07:16","slug":"who-we-are","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pomsmentorship.org\/?page_id=77","title":{"rendered":"WHO WE ARE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who we are<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-5-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1 wp-block-paragraph\">POMS is led by colleagues from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rvc.ac.uk\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.rvc.ac.uk\/\"><strong>Royal Veterinary College <\/strong>(RVC)<\/a>, with support from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intvetvaccnet.co.uk\/\"><strong>International Veterinary Vaccinology Network <\/strong>(IVVN)<\/a>, and draws on wider research relationships across the UK, Africa, Asia and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-default has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2\">Pilot programme 2025-2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-text-subtitle has-accent-5-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-3 is-style-text-subtitle--1 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>18 mentors | 34 mentees | 52 participants | 17 countries<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-5-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\">The first cohort launched in 2025, pairing 18 mentors with strong research track records and experience of interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration with 34 mentees. These include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intvetvaccnet.co.uk\/catalyst-funding\/ivvn-ecr-career-development-fellowship-scheme\"><strong>11 IVVN Career Development Fellows<\/strong><\/a> and 23 additional early career researchers recruited directly by POMS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-5-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5 wp-block-paragraph\">The network has strong participation from research institutions and communities across Africa and Asia, alongside members based in the UK, Europe, Australia, Brazil and the United States. This reflects POMS\u2019s commitment to widening access to mentoring, professional networks and leadership development for researchers in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Members contribute their own expertise, research experience and understanding of regional priorities, supporting reciprocal learning across institutions and borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-5-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6 wp-block-paragraph\">POMS has a particular focus on veterinary and zoonotic infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. Members\u2019 work spans basic, clinical, translational and policy research, drawing on expertise across the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. They work in universities, research institutes, public-sector organisations, international research centres, non-governmental organisations and industry. This breadth supports collaboration across disciplines and sectors to address complex One Health challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7\">Joining POMS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-5-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8 wp-block-paragraph\">POMS is currently being delivered as a pilot programme and is not recruiting new members.
